Values, Transparency and Governance

Sustainability means meeting the needs of the present generation without affecting future generations.

Sustainable businesses meet the needs of the present generation without compromising future generations. Businesses well-oriented to sustainable development are economically better off. Studies have shown that the movement of market value of companies recommended for sustainable investments exceeds the market value of those who do not possess such a vision. For this reason, the perception that sustainable developmentis factor for accumulation grows each day.

Good sustainability practices result in improved financial performance. Lucrative businesses may have incorporated elevated environmental, individual and social practices and benefitted the communities in which they are located.

While we are a public company, we do not negotiate shares in any of the Latin American countries in which we are located. However, we follow the directives established by our Dutch parent company and affirm with pride that we have made important strides in the direction of sustainable management. Our growth in the region goes hand in hand with social and environmental initiatives which improve not only our company but also the communities and countries where we are located.

Sustainable Business Indexes

Guided by the business sustainability concept, companies such as Philips are evaluated by indexes that measure commitment to society. Created by financial market institutions such as the Dow Jones World Sustainability Index (DJWSI), the lists guarantee investors that the companies will be able to generate value in the long-term as they have greater possibilities to overcome risks generated by environmental, economic and social problems, among others.
